This project takes on photographic approach towards representing the biracial individual's most perplexing question - "What AM I?"
Today’s society seems to make everything out to be so black and white, but what happens when something falls in between? As a mixed race individual, I have faced racism, oppression, and microaggressions for the majority of my life and am often left feeling as though I am not white or black enough to fit into a either monoracial group. Therefore, my alternate realities have come to life - black and white versions of myself. I have played both of these characters before, but each time I have seemed to fall short. There always seemed to be one key element that wasn’t just right.
